In a world addicted to self-display and self-justification, the call to forget ourselves and live for the Lord is both liberating and radical. I reflect on similar themes of “forgetting self” in Desert and Fire from an incarnational mysticism perspective. Your reflection here, and Augustine’s insights, cut through the fog of modern pride. We are creatures, not creators; adopted, not entitled; servants, not sovereigns. May we have the grace to remember this, and to flee the labyrinth before the self becomes our only god.
